A brand new trip for us – one we haven’t done before – so something new for us all!

Dating back to around 886AD, The Royal Mint is one of the oldest manufacturers in the World.  Their coins identify their original home as ‘The Tower of London’ before relocation to Tower Hill.

In 1968, The Royal Mint began to move its operation from Tower Hill in the city of London to Llantrisant, and has operated on a single site In South Wales since 1980.

Our tour will take us behind the scenes of coin making.  Exciting exhibitions, thrilling tours, spellbinding storytelling – there really will be something for everyone.  I’m sure we will never look at the coins in our pockets the same way again!

After our Mint Tour, we will head up the Road to the Welsh Coal Mine Experience.  We will follow in the footsteps of miners who once worked at the Lewis Merthyr Colliery, right in the heart of the Rhondda Valley.  Ex-coal miners will guide us on our tour and we will be given an insight into life underground!

The Toilet will be available to use throughout your journey.   You can bring a picnic with you, but we do ask that no hot food is brought onto the coach.

We will stop en-route for a 45 minute stop for us to have a cup of tea and and to allow the driver to keep to his hours

We will arrive at The Royal Mint for around mid day.  We will have our lunch and   then we will be split into 2 groups to begin our tours.  Our tours will finish around 4pm.

We then head back onto the Coach and head up to the Coal Mine which is a short 10 minute drive.   Rough timings indicate we will be finished around 5.15pm

You are most welcome to bring a picnic with you but we do not allow hot food to be brought on the coach.

As this day involves walking, particularly in the mine where surfaces may be uneven, please do wear sensible footwear.

Travelling home, we will stop again – somewhere half-way again to allow our drivers to keep to their hours

Tickets are £65pp and include Coach Travel and entry into both The Royal Mint and The Welsh Coal Mine and lunch – you can either pay in full at time of booking or pay half uponbooking with the balance 4 weeks later – all information will be sent via whatsapp so its essential that you text me your number to enable me to store it

To ensure you receive your travel reminder and payment details if you choose pay in two please remember to send a text message to the group mobile number: 07304 044920. This will allow us to store your number in advance and make sure your reminder is sent in a timely manner. If you have chosen to pay in two it enables me to send you via whatsapp all payment details.  It is your responsibility to message me. We also create a WhatsApp group for each event for any updates – this gets deleted once the event is over.

Pick Up Points and Travel Reminders

Before completing your booking, you will be asked to select your preferred pick up point and time. It is important to make a note of your chosen pick up location and time, as reminders for your pick up will not be sent until the day before travel.

Providing Additional Information

During the checkout process, there is a ‘note’ box available. Please use this space to share any information you would like us to have prior to your journey. If you do not travel well by coach or require a seat nearer the front, please include this request at the time of booking. While every effort will be made to accommodate seating preferences, we cannot guarantee a front seat due to the high number of similar requests.

Order Confirmation and Tickets

After you have placed your order, you will receive a computer-generated confirmation email.  Please note that, although this email may indicate that tickets are attached, these are not your entry tickets. All tickets are held by us and will be handed to you as you board the coach.

Special Requests

If you have any special requests, we will always do our best to accommodate them. However, please understand that we cannot guarantee all requests will be fulfilled.

Travel Plans and Reminders

No detailed travel plans will be sent out in advance. Instead, a reminder will be sent to your mobile phone the day before your scheduled travel. It is therefore essential that the lead booker’s name and mobile number provided on your order are those of the person actually travelling.

Park at the rear of the store where there are no restrictions – we will pick up at the bus stop opposite the petrol station as you drive into Tesco

GREAT ASHBY BUDGENS – SG1 6NH

The coach will pick up at the entrance of the free car park

LYTTONS WAY SG1 1XT – either outside railway station or opposite railway station

HATFIELD GALLERIA AL10 OXY – park Mcdonalds side – walk out to main road and at the side of the building by The Odeon and opposite the Aldi sign you will find the bus stop

BOREHAMWOOD BARNET LANE WD6 2RN – bus stop is on the left as you turn right on A1 by Morrisons
